Part of what made Maul iconic in The Phantom Menace was the mystery. Few words. Pure menace. Every appearance felt dangerous because we knew so little about him.
But the longer a character stays in the spotlight, the harder it becomes to preserve that aura. The more backstory, motivation, and exposition we get, the more the myth starts becoming just another person.
That does not make Maul: Shadow Lord bad. Far from it. But it raises an interesting question about Star Wars itself. Can a character built on mystery survive too much focus?
We unpack it all in our brand new episode on Maul: Shadow Lord, out now on YouTube and all podcast platforms.
Do you think Maul is better as a mystery or as a fully explored character?
